BIODATA



Dr. Pamela Isemikon Cyril-Egware was born into the family of Rt. Rev. I. P. D. Abaye and Mrs. P. M. Abaye of Bayelsa State on the 24th of August 1961. She studied Industrial Design at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1989 and subsequently obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA) in Textiles and Fashion Design from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 2006. She has a PhD from the University of Port Harcourt also in Textiles and Fashion, where she is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Textile Unit. Pamela is a trained teacher who has taught at different levels some of which include Essence International School, Kaduna, Kaduna Polytechnic and Federal College of Education (Tech), Omoku. She has published in many scholarly journals and books and participated in several group and solo exhibitions, conferences and workshops nationally and internationally. Some of her major exhibitions include; First African Regional Summit and Exhibition on Visual Arts, Abuja, Bayelsa State stand (2008); Meaning and Making (MEG) Reading, UK (2010), Nigeria Visual Art World Tour (NIVATOUR1), Cairo, Egypt (2010), Nigeria @ 50 FAAN, UNIPORT, Abuja (2010), Art Burst 2011,SNA, Solo @ King Ebitimi E. Banigo’s Handing over of staff of office, Bayelsa State (2011), Milk of Womanhood, United Arab Emirate (2012), The Plight of Women II, Abuja (2013), Wealth of the Island, Abuja 2013 Whispers from the Creeks, Port Harcourt, 2013 and Women in Development, Abuja 2014. She facilitated the Textile unit at the Harmattan Workshop at Agbara-Otoh in 2014 and 2015. She is a member of SNA Rivers / Bayelsa Chapter, secretary, Female Artist Association of Nigeria and Creek Amazons respectively. Pamela is the director of PAMEK Studio, a division of PAMEK ventures where she practices and train youths in textile design, cake baking, interior decoration and event management.
